Hace tiempo que teníamos claro que nuestro próximo hilado iba a ser una mezcla con lino. El lino es una fibra muy especial, nos encanta su  aspecto rústico, casi arcaico  y  el brillo metálico que hace diferentes a todos los colores.

Revisamos nuestro extenso archivo  de swatches, donde tenemos muchas mezclas de lana y lino que hemos hecho para diferentes clientes de tejidos (especialmente para Ralph Lauren) y decidimos  hacer una mechita sencilla en merino y lino.

we had been wanting to have a linen yarn in our collection for quite some time. Linen is such a special fiber, its metallic shine gives all the colors a special glow and the raw fiber has a rustic, archaic look that I love.

Browsing through our huge swatch archives there is a great variety of wool-linen knits that we have made for our garment knits customers (notably Ralph Lauren) so, after some thinking we decided to try a simple single ply merino/linen.

Luego de ver muchas muestras recibimos  una mechilla 65% merino, 35% lino que nos encantó. Cuando ví las primeras muestras teñidas me sentí un poco desilusionada, parecía muy peludo y un poco opaco. Pero luego de reenmadejarla, la madeja ya se veía súper brillante y luego de ovillarla y tejerla ya estaba enamorada.  El lavado (blocking) saca su costado lanero, dándole un suave halo y sin perder su look rústico.  Decidimos que éste era nuestro hilado.

After several trials we received a 65% merino, 35% linen, single ply sample that really caught our eye.  When I first saw the hand dyed samples I was a bit disappointed, it looked so dull and hairy, and I feared the hand would be too harsh, but after some  rewinding, the skein was already so good-looking and when I balled and knitted it, I was already in love. Blocking brings out a bit of the woolly side of the yarn making it softer without loosing the rustic feel.

Bautizamos al nuevo hilado Milo y me dediqué a la parte más divertida, diseñar la carta de colores!

We named the newborn Milo and set up to developing a color range for it (my favourite part!).

Todos los azules resultaron increíbles, como una colección de jeans vintage. Por el contrario los tonos neutros claros son elegantes y minimalistas (especialmente Alaska, Potosí y Boreal). Los multicolores abandonaron su habitual tono festivo por un aspecto suave y balanceado, muy atractivo y fácil de combinar.

All of the blues turned out fantastic! like a collection of vintage denim, so rough and authentic. On the other hand I love how the soft neutrals are so elegant and cold, especially Alaska, Boreal and Potosí. The space dye colors gave up their usual extrovert type and took on a soft, toned down, balanced mix of shades, so appealing and easy to match.

Milo es tan diferente, especial y atractivo! Espero que ustedes disfruten de tejerlo tanto como nosotros disfrutamos de hacerlo.
