When developing new yarns there are some ideas that take some time before they materialize, Alpaca Heather is one of them.

The starting points for the creation of this yarn were some concepts that we love:

-the image of a good lambswool sweater in melange gray, a timeless classic with that brings all good memories.

-the naturaly colored fibers, with their incredible richness of tones.

We have always loved these things, but we found them a bit alien to the aesthetic of Manos, which is all about merino and brillant hand-dyed colors. However, at some point the idea clicked and we were able to make the correct mix of all these influences and achieve a yarn that makes us very proud: Alpaca Heather.

To make Alpaca Heather we choose three natural tones of alpaca: two browns (one reddish and the other more taupe) and black and we mixed each of them with raw wool in a beautiful melànge. With each color we achieve a beautiful base: beige, gray and tan and we settled for a classic two-ply construction.

We then hand-dyed these bases in rich, timeless colors: deep red, burgundy, ocher yellow, petrol blue …. Alpaca Heather is just perfect for colorwork so the palette is designed to enable a thousand combinations.

Al desarrollar nuevos hilados hay algunas ideas que llevan un tiempo dando vueltas antes de concretarse, Alpaca Heather es una de ellas.

Los puntos de partida para la creación de este hilado, fueron algunos conceptos que nos encantan, como un buen buzo a la base en lambswool, seguramente en gris melange, un clásico atemporal con toda una gran carga afectiva. Por otro lado los colores naturales de las fibras, con su riqueza de tonos increíble. Estas cosas las amamos desde siempre pero las encontrábamos un poco ajenas a la estética de Manos, que va mas por el camino del merino y los colores brillantes teñidos a mano.

En algún momento la idea hizo click y pudimos hacer el mix correcto de todas estas influencias y lograr un hilado que nos pone muy orgullosos: Alpaca Heather.

Para hacer el hilado elegimos tres tonos naturales de alpaca: dos marrones (uno rojizo y otro más topo) y negro y mezclamos cada uno con lana cruda, logrando un melànge hermoso. Con esto desarrollamos tres bases: beige, gris y tostado. Nos decidimos con por una construcción clásica de dos hebras y teñimos a mano estas bases, en colores intensos y atemporales: un rojo fuerte, un bordó clásico, un amarillo ocre, un azul petróleo…. Alpaca Heather es perfecto para tejer guardas (colorwork), por eso la paleta está pensada para poder formar mil combinaciones.
